The most amazing authentic Italian restaurant!! On Wednesdays and Thursdays they do a regional menu, November was Tuscany. Everything is sourced from this region, which is where the owner is from. They talked us through the menu and they were so knowledgeable and passionate, it was such a lovely experience! There is an amazing wine selection with all sorts of Italian reds, white, roses, spirits and of course spritzes available too! We started off with a Bocelli white wine and an Italian spritz for a little throwback to our summer Italian trip. As always, we got 2 starters between us and shared; firstly the pinza porchetta e cipolla- traditional roman style dough topped with cheese, porchetta and cavolo nero. Absolutely delicious and a nice light dough. However my favourite starter was the burrata prosciutto. The burrata was so creamy, they import this from Puglia weekly! Its served with homemade bread and sundried tomatoes. For my main I ordered the ragu with pappardelle pasta, a wild venison ragu braised overnight. When you visit Pranzo you must order this dish, the levels of flavour were just absolutely insanely good and the meat just fell apart, so tender! I loved the red wine flavour, so rich. My friend ordered the Tuscan fish stew which had a very generous amount of prawns, calamari and mussels and she really enjoyed this, I stole a prawn and can confirm this was delicious! We somehow managed to fit a dessert in after hearing that the tiramisu is an old family recipe, handmade by the owners wife, and this did not disappoint! Come to this restaurant hungry because it is all just delicious, you'll feel like youre in Italy! Even better, across the road they have a deli where you can buy most of the ingredients they use in the restaurant to recreate the dishes at home! I've had their Italian sandwiches before and they are so so nice too!

We were recommended Pranzo while visiting Whitley Bay and it didn’t disappoint! The food was delicious,,we had the pork risotto, carbonara, and burrata tartufata, all full of flavour. The place has a lovely, relaxed vibe and seems popular with families, so definitely book in advance. Great experience overall!
A regular spot that we always go to when in the area, the pizzas are always spot on and service incredibly friendly. The starters are a little small but the desserts are gorgeous, definitely don’t skip the limoncellos! The pasta were not as saucy as expected but still a must go if in Whitley bay! Unfortunately no service charge included in the bill so prepare to bring some cash for the waitresses as they definitely deserve it.
Really authentic tasty carbonara. Loved the burrata and parma ham starter too. As an added bonus, staff were lovely and made us laugh! Thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Would come back in a heartbeat!
Attended a fabulous wine tasting event at Pranzo last night - thoroughly enjoyed it! There was a great selection of white and red wines, and the food was delicious too. Staff were all super friendly, and the quality of service was excellent. I will definitely be back!
Came here with my dad and dog in September. We ordered a mortadella pizza and ndjua pasta to share, both were lovely, especially the pasta so much flavour. I got a pistachio cannoli and an Italian hot chocolate for dessert. Chocolate had a lovely rich taste, thick enough to dip cannoli in. The waitress that served us was very helpful, we had great interactions with her, she is very clued up on the menu and everything to do with pranzo which is great to see :)
Stopped in on a whim after seeing the high ratings and it did not disappoint! Very lucky to grab the last high table for 2 so pre booking would be advised. Great atmosphere, quick service, delicious food and lovely staff! The burrata and speck e broccoli pasta were big winners for us, fab experience all round!
Very overdue review. Pranzo is an Italian neighborhood style restaurant just a few minutes walk from Whitley bay metro station. It was a busy Friday evening, but the lovely staff managed to accommodate us at a window table overlooking the outdoor area. It was so nice, I would specifically book it again! We had polenta and burrata to start, followed by sage and walnut risotto and a pizza from the specials menu. Great selection of Italian wines, the friuli was delicious. We finished our wine in the garden - with nice warm blankets to keep out the chill. A deli has opened just over the road which I'll be trying very soon. Would absolutely recommend as one of the nicest places to eat on the North Tyneside coast.
